VINARSTVO ZLATY ROH
The Hungarian poet Endre Ady wrote: “May I break into Dévény / With new songs for new times?” Devín, a small village situated just 10 minutes distance of the capital Bratislava, was undoubtedly the new beginning for the young winemaker Filip Nagy.
Filip, who had already made his name with his own wine label 7 rows, moved there in his twenties to become also the winemaker of the Zlaty Roh estate.
Zlaty Roh means in Slovak “Golden Horn” which applies to horn that is the general symbol of biodynamic viticulture. But Zlaty Roh also means golden corner (Goldeck) that is the name of the one of two vineyards. In Goldeck and Purweg vineyards Filip has planted Grüner Veltliner, Riesling, Merlot, Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon.
Filip Nagy is a hardworking man. He is spiritually and physically involved into the winemaking process, with an admirable “down to earth” attitude. His wines are authentic image of him and the place where they originate.
Zlaty Roh is overlooking the place where the river Morava flows into Danube, just a step away from Austrian border. One can feel these fusions in Filip’s original, rare and very gentle understanding and interpretation of old varieties. The gentleness of wine is literarily dropping from his fingertips into the glass, opening for us the horizon of promising future and we can think only one: aging well.
